Ohio Rural Electric Cooperatives fund Be E3 Smart Program

Ohio’s Rural Electric Cooperatives are partnering with the Ohio Energy Project to provide energy education to students and teachers throughout Ohio.  Each cooperative is providing teacher materials and curriculum that fits Ohio’s approved science standards and student energy efficiency kits for each school participating in the Be E3 Smart Program.

A teacher workshop was held in August 2011.  Twenty-two teachers from across the state participated in the professional development offered.  As a result, those teachers were able to reach 2,300 students who took home energy saving materials to share with their families.

The Ohio Electric Cooperatives plan to expand the program to approximately 50 teachers and 5,000 students for the 2012-13 school year.
