energy sources tour faqs
Q: When will I be notified if I am selected as a participant?
A: Registration will be open until March 23rd and you will be notified on March 24th. OEP will continue to accept applications after March 24th if spots are still available. You will receive a confirmation email from OEP within one week of your application.
Q: How do you select participants?
A: Priority will be given to the following teachers:
- 1st time participants (2nd time participants will NOT be accepted)
- 3rd-12th grade Ohio classroom science teachers with a 2017-18 teaching assignment
- One teacher per school and/or school district unless space allows
Q: What is the cost for the Energy Sources Tour?
A: Transportation, meals and lodging (double occupancy) are FREE! If selected, you will be asked for a $100 deposit to hold your spot, but it will be returned at the end of the Tour. Your deposit is only forfeited if you cancel 30 days or less prior to the trip departure date.
PLEASE NOTE: The deposit is not due until you are accepted.
Q: How much graduate credit is available and how much does it cost?
A: One or two semester hours from Ashland University at a cost of $175/semester hour. A course syllabus will be included with your confirmation packet.
Q: What sites will we be visiting?
A: The agenda for the 2017 Tour is still being confirmed, but will include: American Electric Power, Rumpke Recycling, Conesville Power Plant, energy research labs at The Ohio State University.
